AI Paradigms
Model Context Providers (MCPs) enable AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to access external context.
Useful at work. Being able to chat with Claude and have it summarize my emails, update my TODO, and check my calendar.
Meta-Cognition
Was talking to Zane about this on the way home from Flagstaff. Being able to take a step back and recognize the patterns of your own thinking. Sometimes small circles. Othertimes larger. But when you can see it, you can change your behavior. Pick your own circles.
Economics — Opposing Ideals
Communism failed because everyone works for the state. Everyone contributes and gets the same amount given back. But the flaw here is that the state is inherently corrupt. Someone in power will always abuse it. Act in self interest.
Marxism by innate nature negates Adam Smith free market capitalism. The belief that man is inherently self interested and will always (tend to act) in a way that benefits himself.
Reading Plato
The notion of piety. Prosecutor interrogates Socrates on the notion of divinity. What is truly in service to the Gods and what is not.
And by use of dialogue, Socrates manages to get the interrogator to admit his notion of divinity is ill-founded. Eg — “what is god-loved != piety”. That there must be an objective nature of goodness or piety that exists independently of divine preference.
Moral truth is independent of myth.
— Also, the idea that Socrates is the most influential philosopher and he never wrote anything down. Only interpreted by people like Plato. Must have been a revolutionary thinker.
The Middle East
Iraq — got into war, not much left. Arab. Resource rich.
Afghanistan — brutal regime
Jordan — mediterranean, big war, many migrated away
Lebanon — civil war, religious division, collapse of state
Israel — speaks for itself
Saudi Arabia — doesn’t issue citizenship. Cut off from the world.
Mongolia — living in a bygone era
Kazakhstan, Armenia — very pretty, perfect temperature.
Speak Farsi.
